The preservation of Cladosporium spp. strains (NBRC 4459 and NBRC 6348) and Aureobasidium spp. ones (NBRC 6353 and ANCT-11003) using mycelium-agar discs (5 mm diam) soaked in water at 2 ℃, 7 ℃ and 25 ℃ was investigated. The four strains had survival rates of 100% at all temperature for 30 wk. Furthermore, the mycelial growth rates and the minimal inhibitory concentrations of a lavender oil of these strains after the preservation were similar to each control (subcultures) on potato dextrose agar plates at 25 ℃. This study revealed that preserving of the discs in water at 2-25 ℃ is possible more than 30 wk.
