We have recently experienced a case of lower-face Sparganosis Mansoni.
Sparganosis was first described in 1832 by Mansoni who found the infection in a sailor from Amoy, China.
The most common presentation of Sparganosis is that of a subcutaneous mass or nodule which may be tender. Locations such as the abdominal wall, chest wall, neck and eyelid have been reported in the literature.
A 36-year-old woman visited our hospital with a complaint of painless swelling of the mental region.
Resection of the tumor was performed under general anesthesia. Histopathological finding of the tumor was obtained by a positive skin test using the antigen which was extracted from Diphillo Bothrium Mansoni.
