Trichoepithelioma, either solitary or multiple, is a small benign tumor containing multiple horn cysts simulating to a varying degree abortive pilar structures. Multiple lesions are usually hereditary and appear mainly on the face. Solitary lesions are not inherited, but also commonly appear on the face. The multiple and solitary trichoepitheliomas are histologically similar, and their differences are basically clinical.
We experienced a very rare case of solitary trichoepithelioma of the upper lip in a 44 year old male. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of numerous islands of basaloid cells intermingled with horn cysts.
The present trichoepithelioma in its structure was histologically different from trichofolliculoma and basal cell carcinoma.
