A case of adenoid cystic carcinoma arising from the anterior lingual gland (Blandin-Nuhn gland) is reported.
A 65-year-old woman had an elastic, movable swelling (8×8 mm) with pain at the apex of the tongue. The tumor was removed together with the surrounding tissue. Histological examination revealed a typical adenoid cystic carcinoma with a cribriform pattern and mucous and serous glands surrounding the tumor. Recurrence, metastasis and functional handicap of tongue have not occurred as of 4 years and 3 months after surgery.
