The Johns and Juhnke Health Practice Inventory was used in this study b determine and compare the health practices of women students entering two colleges in 1957, I. University in the United States and T. University in Japan. The study included three groups of college freshman women and the major findings are as follows: 1. In 1957, women freshman physical education major at I. University had better health practice than freshman physical education majors at T. University in Japan. The two group showed significant difference in only 4 of 12 major areas---physical activity and recreation, prevention and control of chronic diseases, mental health, and family health. 2. In 1957, college freshman women physical education majors at T. University were significantly superior to freshman women who were not majors in physical education in three areas: personal health, dental health, and consumer health. 3. All three groups scored high on the revised Health Practice Inventory as a whole, as compared to the Johns and Juhnke percentile norms.
