An attempt was mede to clarify the relationship between sports group and peresonality of the members. The structure of athletic club in 8 senior high schools and 9 colleges. was analyzed in terms of the formative process of goals norms, and its function was examined through that of achieving group goals, that of member combination, and that of overlapped area. Main findings were as follows: 1. The structure of athletic club is divided into three patterns : membership pattern, oligarchy pattern, and non-membership pattern. 2. These three patterns of athletic club had their own characteristics corresponding to the different function peculiar to the club. 3. It was suggested that both non-membership pattern and oligarchy pattern showed authoritarian structure based on the authoritarian principle, and membership pattern did a democratic structure based be the cooperative principle.
