Abstract

In the School of Pharmacy of Aichi Gakuin University, we have been holding FD workshops (WS) since 2014 on the issues we often face in educating our students, for the purpose of improving “the quality of education” and “the qualification of faculty”. Not only full-time faculty but also pharmacists in charge of practical study have participated in the WS, and have actively exchanged their opinions, and have fully communicated each other. As the outcome of WS, we achieved 1) increasing awareness of faculty in improving the quality of education, 2) sharing common awareness of the issues among faculty, 3) sharing concrete measures to facilitate better education. On the other hand, some problems were also found such as 1) necessity of drawing up appropriate methods and standards to evaluate the effectiveness of education improvement, 2) necessity of creating a mechanism by which PDCA cycle is continually driven. Cooperative awareness among faculty fostered in WS will greatly help us take measures against the various confronting problems in the School of Pharmacy, and also help to facilitate the efforts to improve the quality of education and the qualification of faculty.
