Abstract

Due to the April 2020 declaration of a state of emergency, most university classes are being held remotely (online). However, numerous problems have arisen in the transition from in-person lectures, seminars, and practicums to remote learning. For medical care-related departments in particular, due to the extremely great importance of future relationships with patients, ordinary citizens, and other medical personnel, it is necessary to acquire a clinical mindset including communication ability. At Setsunan University, we offer numerous courses aimed at inculcating this clinical mindset, but in response to the coronavirus crisis, we have transitioned this year to a fully remote program and are attempting to cultivate the desired clinical mindset through online instruction. As a result, using Microsoft Teams, discussion by SGD (Small Group Discussion) has been possible. However, the content seems less mature than that of in-person classes. In the future, we plan to verify the impact of this program upon the cultivation of clinical mindset.
