Abstract

Upon entering university, first-year students do not merely receive academic education. Rather, they experience a process of becoming aware of the shift from being high school students to university students and acquiring an autonomous learning attitude. Further, this process enables them to develop active learning habits through challenging discussions, presentations, and so on, thus gaining successful experience. During this period, education greatly affects the impressions of first-year university students. Their sense of satisfaction and belonging to their own university can be significantly influenced by the quality of their education. Students’ impressions of the faculty after enrollment can affect their learning motivation, which lasts until the upper grades. The education provided to first-year students after enrollment is critical in training for basic academic abilities as well as developing the motivation to learn to become a pharmacist. We will describe how the support that first-year students should have received from the university, in addition to academic learning, was developed in an exclusively online environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
