There has been a growing demand to train pharmacists who can suggest optimal prescriptions to physicians and collaborate with medical staff in team-based medicine. The 2013 revised Model Core Curriculum for pharmacy education introduced learning outcomes to develop highly qualified pharmacists who can actively participate in interprofessional work (IPW). Supervising pharmacists can present this image of a pharmacist to internship students. The author established an educational system for training supervisors based on multidisciplinary collaboration at the Saiseikai Noe Hospital in Osaka. This paper reports on the educational initiatives implemented through interprofessional education (IPE) in hospital practical training, physical assessment education in affiliated hospitals, and training for pharmacist supervisors through collaboration with academic societies and research groups.
