Abstract

This study deals with the “new doctoral education program” with the aimed to eliminate the mismatch between the human resources sought by society and those produced by graduate schools and to realize diverse career paths for doctoral students. The implemented program’s validity, effectiveness, and efficacy of the were verified. For that purpose, the construction process and implementation details of the Kumamoto University’s Leading Program for Graduate Schools, “Health life science: Interdisciplinary and Glocal Oriented (HIGO) Program” was overviewed and the curriculum records, career paths of graduates, and questionnaire results were analyzed. Therefore, in this paper, I would like to introduce two newly launched graduate education programs that utilize the know-how of the HIGO Program, and discuss the significance, challenges, and future of the construction and implementation of these new doctoral education programs.
