Abstract

This review discusses the rapid development of generative AI technology and its application in educational settings, as well as the potential of virtual reality (VR) and metaverse technologies in education. While generative AI contributes to the improvement of educational quality in various ways as a learning support tool, there are concerns about the lack of learning through actual experiences. VR and metaverse education are expected to become increasingly important as a mean to complement this gap. In this paper, I introduce the author’s own examples of VR food education materials and VR live lesson streaming, and discuss the utilization of the metaverse as a “classroom” and “teaching material”. In the future, by understanding the characteristics of generative AI and VR/metaverse materials and combining them, it will be possible to guide learners to deeper learning. It is expected that the education of the future will evolve into a personalized, interactive, and practical learning environment through the integration of AI and the metaverse.
