Using the phase space, the problems of discontinuous automatic control of a missile have been investigated by I. Flügge-Lotz1), especially for the position control. The author applied the analogous method te the motion of a special airplane which is automatically controlled by discontinuous velocity control. The plane is equipped with two gyroscopes which pick up the rolling and pitching angular velocity, and is controled by ailerons and an elevator.
Accordingly, the control function of the longitudinal motion is only upon an angular velocity of pitching motion, θ', and the motion of elevator is govemed by the relationships (1·2) and (1·3) The control function F(=θ') has an unfeeling zone ±θ'*, and in this zone the elevator is restored to the neutral position. A numerical example is given in §4.
