Abstract
Cellular configuration, observed in 25 cases of malignant melanoma, was classified into the three types of cells, round, pleomorphic and fibrous cells. Subcellular features varied considerably according to these cell types. In general, melanin pigmentation, intranuclear vacuole, prominent nucleolus and epitheloid arrangement, were found to be most characteristic in the present tumor.
These subcellular features were observed frequently in the pleomorphic type of cells, and less in fibrous type. Frequent occurrence of intranuclear vacuole was found to be 40% among all cases, and particularly 46% among hypo or amelanoic melanoma cases.
These findings consisted with that reported in our previous reports concerning with several cases of malignant melanoma cases.
