Abstract

In Fukuoka prefecture, 19 cases of endocervical adenocarcinoma of the cervix during 1967-1981 were detected by mass screening. Of 434 cases 4.4% were diagnosed as infiltrating carcinoma of cervix during the same period. 10 of 19 cases (52.6%) were found at the first examination and 2 were found at the fourth. 10 cases classified into Class III, showed mild nuclear atypicality and indistinct nucleolus when compared with typical endocervical adenocarcinoma specimens. Therefore, it seems necessary to examine masses of atypical adenocytes carefully, even if they have few characteristics such as nuclear enlargement or size and form irregularity.
