In recent years, modern mechanical structual members which are used to improve performance, speed, scale up capabilities were given the dynamic fracture behaviour.
In this paper. the dynamic stress intensity factors were determined by using dynamic caustics on plate of polycarbonate. The optical method of caustics is a very effective technique for evaluating this factor. In the past, high speed cameras were used to analysis of dynamic fracture behaviour. However, currently this camera is extremely costly, and is not simple to use as general measurement instruments. The strobe scorpe type photographic system for a dynamic caustic pattern must have the precision and many specimen required for the impact test pieces, but this method was extremely inexpensive and easy to operate. The value of static and dynamic fracture toughnesses were determined by these experiment. In addition, the impact load was reproduced by strains wave of load cell.
