Abstract

Kochi Prefecture has the highest agricultural output per unit area in Japan. This advantage is due to the establishment of precise cultivation techniques in facility horticulture and marketing strategies that focus on cultivated items with high market competitiveness. In the Kochi Prefecture industry-academia-government collaborative project on Advanced Next-Generation Greenhouse Horticulture Projects by IoP (Internet of Plants) started in 2018, the environment-controlled agriculture established so far has been further evolved. By introducing IoT/AI technology, we try to establish an IoP cloud including not only environmental data, work and market data, but also data on physiology and metabolism such as photosynthesis and evaporation of plants, which was completely in black box until now, by which it can be possible for accurate and convenient farming guidance. During the 10-year project period, our project is aiming at technical development and on-site implementation to establish the IoP cloud, training of core farmers who practice and disseminate IoP greenhouse horticulture, and further enhance the education and research environment along with promoting the reform of local universities. In addition, the IoP Promotion Organization will be launched and operated as an organization to run this project on its own. In this paper, the background of the launch of this project, the mechanism of project management, and the PDCA will be described in detail from the standpoint of the project manager. This work was supported by Cabinet Office grant in aid.
