Outline of the Kobe Vision for the Healthcare of Tomorrow

Abstract

This vision is a new initiative, which aims to create an ecosystem that will continuously generate innovation in medical device development. Representatives from industry, government and academia will collaborate to establish a kind of research hospital that will act as a demonstration base for medical devices on the man-made island, Port-Island, where research and development of advanced medical devices will be conducted. In addition, they will also contribute to the further development of the economy of Kobe City by fostering human resources capable of integrating medicine and engineering to accurately grasp the needs of the medical industry and develop new devices, in order to keep young people and provide them with more employment opportunities.
