We conducted a questionnaire survey of the appreciators for the purpose of finding hypotheses used when studying the psychological structure of appreciating works of art. As a result, the following tendencies were observed. 1) The degree of good impression for works of art is strongly influenced by beautifulness. Especially, this tendency is conspicuous for appreciators who have no education in art. 2) When appreciators pay attention to a part of works of art, the reasons for attention are; the content of reproduction, the technique of execution, and the visual effects such as beautifulness of colors or shapes. 3) How appreciators evaluate the colors in pictures and the massiveness in sculptures is strongly influenced whether they had education in art or not. 4) The following factors have a great influence on the appreciation of works of art;“elaborateness”, “complicatedness”, “interest”.
