Abstract

This paper focuses on the cultural background between Vietnam and Japan in technology transfers and international academic/industrial partnerships, especially collaboration among universities and companies in Vietnam and Japan, possibility of conflict of interest occurring, and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Japan. As a result, we conclude that it is possible that collaboration among universities in Vietnam and Japan and Vietnamese companies works effectively. With regards to conflict of interest, Vietnamese are more critical to conflict of interest than Japanese, and rules must be established. It is important for Japanese to learn the conversation and to respect the feelings of Vietnamese. Concerning the types of support, educational program for intellectual property and introduction of hardware are requested.
