Abstract
Two cases of relatively large epulis suspected of a tumor from clinical findings are reported. Case 1: The patient was a 60s-year old woman. She presented with the complaint of the mass at the anterior maxilla. An elastic firm mass at the size of 30×25mm partly accompanying ulcer with broad base was observed on the anterior palatal gingiva of the maxilla. Case 2: The patient was 30s-year old woman. She was referred to our hospital because of the mass at the anterior mandible. A mass at the diameter of 40mm with multiple tubercles was observed on the anterior gingiva of the left mandible. In both cases, biopsy was performed since a possibility of tumor was not able to be denied at first sight. After confirmation of the histological diagnosis of epulis, the mass was excised. Postoperative course was uneventful in both cases. Histologically, the lesion was epulis osteoplastica in Case 1 and epulis fibrosa in Case 2. No sign of recurrence has been observed for more than 2 years after surgery in both cases.
