This paper gives an account of experimental investigation on lubrication and lubricants in sheet drawing by measuring forces involved in the working. With the apparatus which was devised by one of the authors, the drawing force, the holding force and the frictional resistance of holder surface can be simultaneously recorded on film during working. Lubricating properties of over 40 kinds of lubricants in sheet drawing are compared with each other according to the records, and thus the lubricating mechanismsa re made clear.
