In this paper, the author presents an analytical formula for the flat superfinishing resistance which is expressed as the sum of two terms, ploughing and frictional. In this formula, he assumes that the sharp or dull edges of abrasives penetrate and make minute scratches on the work.
Further, he measures the resistance by means of "parallel spring-air micrometer" and discusses the formula with reference to some experimental results.
