This paper describes a rare case of neonatal intussusception. This is our second neonatal case in 980 children with intussusception. A male infant was born with birth weight of 3175g. He was present with bilious vomiting, abdominal distension and melena on day 1 . Abdominal tumor was not palpable. X-ray findings revealed neveau in upper abdominal area, and small sized colon by Barium enema. Our diagnosis was an intussusception of small intestine or another ileus status. So laparotomy was performed and jejunal intussusception was found. Circuration of intussuscepted intestine was not recoverd, so it was resected and anastomosed primarily. Post-operative course was uneventful, and he was discharged on 17 days after operation. From Japanese literature, twenty-seven cases of neonatal intussusception were collected. This paper summerizes our experience with this patient and discusses about twenty-seven cases in Japan.
