ON CONSISTENCY OF MANTEL-HAENSZEL TYPE ESTIMATORS IN NESTED CASE-CONTROL STUDIES

This paper focuses on the extension of the Mantel-Haenszel method to nested case-control studies. For proportional hazards model, a class of Mantel-Haenszel type estimators of the hazard ratio is presented, and the consistency of the proposed estimators is discussed. A condition on nested case-control sampling, under which the Mantel-Haenszel type estimators are uniformly consistent to the hazard ratio, is given.
