In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 1884 junior high school students (961 boys and 923 girls) to understand their willingness to learn programming. Factor analysis result for the contents of the questionnaire survey, four factors of "machine operation," "practical value," "challenge-oriented" and "approval-oriented" were extracted. We then created a learning motivation scale for programming consisting of 12 items. Subsequently, by using a programming class in technology education, we verified whether this learning motivation scale could be applied to practical research, and as a result, a significant difference was shown in "challenge-oriented" and "approval-oriented." For this task, it is necessary to verify other lesson practices and reconsider the learning motivation scale.
