Abstract
In order to find the optmal conditions for the preservation of isolated human erythrocytes, the effects of various factors on ATP formation in isolated human erythrocytes from ACD and heparinized blood were studied. The most important factors in ATP formation in the erythrocytes were the concentration of glucose (0.1M/dl), phosphate (0.01M/dl) and pH(7.4) of the medium containing Ringer's solution.
The most remarkable effect on ATP formation in the long preserved erythrocytes was found in a concurrent addition of Adenine and Inosine as already reported by Nakao et al.
