APPLICATION OF COMPUTER TO BLOOD TRANSFUSION BUSINESS IN HOSPITAL

(1) DEVELOPMENT OF A REFERENCE SYSTEM OF PATIENTS' TRANSFUSION INFORMATIONS

Abstract

A computer reference system of patient's transfusion informations was developed to prevent an occurence of transfusion errors in practical business. A program is presented in MUMPS language. The transfusion informations include patients' blood group, atipical antibodies, direct Coombs test, pregnant history, transfusion history, transfusion adverse effects, etc. As these information can be refered conveniently and quickly with each terminal computer in Kyoto University Hospital at any time, our system is very effective to protect patients from effects due to transfusion errors.
