Abstract

“The ocean is the man's world” is now outdated, as women are working in maritime locations. The Law on the Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace has accelerated gender equality in the ocean sector. However, it is not easy to empower women engaged in ocean-related domains. Only a small number of female students in the disciplines of science and engineering can study the oceans in universities, and the ratio of women who work in ocean-related positions in academia and industries is quite low. This paper references the small proportion of women to men working in maritime occupations and describes the promotion that effected in the working and living environments designated for women in ocean-related jobs.
