What do learners notice from watching (TV) drama? : Investigating learners' noticing of Japanese language and culture through protocol analysis

Abstract
This research investigated noticing of Japanese language and culture by watching (TV) drama through protocol analysis for 30 learners who were studying in a Chinese university. The learners were divided into 'high rank' and 'low rank' on the basis of the scores of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. According to the analysis results, the learners' noticing of Japanese language and culture was found. And there was more noticing of Japanese language for the high rank than the low rank. However, no difference was observed in the noticing of Japanese culture.
