After one year of participating in a conversation partner program with international students, a Japanese student changed her communication strategies to solve misunderstandings. This paper presents the results of an interview conducted one year after the first encounter with analysis based on factors found within the concept of global human resources. The factors include 1. Linguistic/communication skills: 2. Self-direction/positiveness, a spirit for challenge, cooperation/ flexibility, a sense of responsibility/mission; and 3. Understanding of other cultures/a sense of Japanese identity. In the interview, the Japanese student revealed the changes that she made in all of these areas.
