The Tencent Spreadsheet is an online version of Microsoft Excel that allows multiple users to scan and edit a shared document simultaneously, and it is convenient for peers to provide comments on each other's writing works, which we call peer response. This study explores peer response in a four-month JFL composition course, where the Tencent Spreadsheet is used to design a collaborative writing model. The data analysis is based on teaching evaluation questionnaires that are collected from 160 college students in China. The results show that the Tencent Spreadsheet as a collaborative writing tool offers students a productive, encouraging, and cooperative environment to improve their writing proficiency.
