This study analyzed a class plan to identify the ideal preparation for a case method class aimed at fostering deeper discussion and learning. The results highlighted four points as important: 1) setting the direction of discussion, based on the provisional goal of the class, by elaborating the teaching goal, 2) clarifying the important arguing points deepening the discussion, by considering what the participants should reflect on and acquire through the discussion, 3) setting the issues leading the participants to reflect repeatedly, and 4) preparing questions to provide other angles for the issues. Hence, a careful class plan aimed at accomplishing the educational goal is needed to ensure deeper discussion and learning.
