Up to present the locality of this rare species has been limited only in Honshu, but a male individual of the bat was caught at Hakozaki, Fukuoka City in Kyushu, on September 16, 1955. This bat is still kept in captivity fed with the larvae of Tenebrio molitor (mealworms) . Some habits observed in captivity were described. The measurements of this animal are given in the table.
