AST Chiro Qi-gong (AST Qi-gong) has been reported about the effects on several diseases and tumors hitherto. However, its therapeutic mechanism has never been reported and never been well known. Authors tried to report the effects of AST Qi-gong on gastrointestinal cancers using histopathological study. Immunohistochemical examination showed the decrease of the expression of Ki-67 antigen and proliferating cell nuclear antigen in cancer tissues after AST Qi-gong therapy. These observation suggested that AST Qi-gong therapy induced the normal functional expression of cancer suppressor gene p53 which induces cancer cells into non-proliferative, quiescent, state.
