We focus on Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultants (SMECs), especially the self-employed, since many people working in companies are interested in them. This research tries to clarify the actual conditions of the self-employed SMECs based on statistical data which have not been pointed out in existing researches. We found the three points in this research. Firstly, the data implies that many people change careers from the employed SMECs to the self-employed ones. Secondly, there are people strongly hope for the self-employed careers. Thirdly, the self-employed SMECs are making a lot of contributions to small and medium‐sized enterprises and the development of management diagnosis in Japan.
