ERM training, which is a non-technical skill, was enforced in Manila amendments of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) in 2010.
On our training ship(Japan agency of Maritime Education and Training for seafarers: JMETS), Be carried out lecture on the principles and ability requirements of ERM, Conduct evaluation about Engine room watchkeeping, maintenance work and operation machinery by observation. But we sensed that the trainees were unable to understand the training attitude of these non-technical skills. Therefore, we tried to improve awareness of the contents of ERM training.
In this study, we report the result of verifying the awareness raising effect of ERM training with engine room simulator.
