The pass rate for the fourth-class seafarers oral tests(navigation/engineering) continues to be lower than the JMETS target. Therefore, in this study, the author analyzed answer data from the online ability tests(navigation/engineering) with the purpose of increasing the oral pass rate. As a result, it was found that there was a significant difference in the average score and average correct answer rate between students who passed and those who failed. It will be possible to provide students who failed the oral tests with teaching materials that focus on supplementing questions with a low correct answer rate. This result is important because the provision of suitable learning materials leads to higher pass rates.
