As physiotherapy is still a developing area in Japan, we need to continue to learn from foreign countries. Also, the importance of evidence based practice has been advocated internationally in recent years. Thus, it is important for Japanese physiotherapists to engage in life-long learning and work with international perspectives. This paper will discuss the preparation for studying abroad, characteristics of curriculum, and future perspectives after graduation, based on the author’s experience in Master of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy at University of South Australia in 2014. The author hopes that more and more motivated Japanese physiotherapists will study abroad in the near future.
