Significance of Reconstruction education support project and its Challenges for the Future

Case study with Elementary schools in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture

Abstract

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology defined “Reconstruction education” as “education to pursue reconstruction of disaster area and to stimulate people and our country as a whole to advance toward the future with hope based on lessons from Great East Japan Earthquake and enforced “Reconstruction Education Support Project” with 54 groups in 2011. We actually conducted this project at elementary schools in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. This paper describes detailed contents of such a project and discusses its significance and challenges for the future.
