There were 109 kg of hazardous chemicals emitted to the atmosphere from United States during 2000. Reduction in these emissions can occur by capture and recovery of these chemicals with an electrothermal-swing adsorption system using activated carbon fiber cloth (ACFC). This system treated an air stream containing 73 ppmv to 1, 006 ppmv methyl ethyl ketone at 1.7 sm3/min. Throughput ratio, length of unused bed, equilibrium adsorption capacity, removal and liquid recovery efficiencies, and energy efficiency were used to characterize the system.
