Abstract
In order to achieve hydrogen- fueled diesel engine, authors suggest the hydrogen combustion with ignition-assist method of Dimethyl ether(DME). The in-cylinder temperature is raised through a reaction in compression stroke by adding DME to intake gas. The ignition-assist method of DME shortened the auto-ignition delay of hydrogen, and obtained the stable auto-ignition of hydrogen. The characteristics of hydrogen auto-ignition and combustion processes with this method were grasped in several conditions for suitable combustion methodology.
