Investigated is recording chracteristics of Co-Cr films with regard to incident angle of evaporated atoms onto a substrate. Recording characteristics of the Co-Cr films deposited with incident angle from 55° to 20° depend on head scan direction. In normal direction, recorded magnetization of the film is mainly dominated by magnetic field near the leading edge of a head, while in reverse direction, it is mainly dominated by the field near the trailing edge. Singlepeak-like isolated waveform in normal direction of head scan is explained by superposition of waveform reproduced from magnetization recorded by the magnetic field near the leading edge and waveform from magnetization reversed only in the film surface by magnetic field near the trailing edge. Reproduced voltage of the film decreases with increasing the azimuth angle owing to the magnetic anisotropy existing in the film plane,, while Co-Cr films deposited with incident angle from 20° to −20° have almost the same density responses at different azimuth angles.
