We have employed a statistical study on a total of 1, 161 cases during the ten years from July 15, 1966 to July 14, 1976. Of which 498 (43%) were manic-depressive illness, 200 (17%) were schizophrenia and 120 (10%) were psychogenic reaction.
There were no remarkable annual change in diagnostic distribution.
The age distribution showed the peak at the age between 20 and 30. As for manic-depressive illness, however, involutional melancholia aged between 40 and 50 was most numerous.
As for regional distribution, patients from Bunkyo district of Metropolitan Tokyo nearby our clinic were most numerous.
In our clinic, somatic treatments such as psychopharmacotherapy and electric convulsive therapy (ECT) have mainly been used for psychiatric patients effectively.
