Measurement of Flow Rate Using Temperature Fluctuation Caused by Vortex Street

Vortexes are shed behind an obstructing rod standing in a stream. The shedding frequency of the vortexes is proportional to the velocity of the stream. To detect its frequency, measure-ment of the temperature fluctuations of the fluid caused by the vortexes behind a heated rod is proposed. By adopting this method, it should be possible to measure the flow rate of high temperature fluid passing through a tube.
