Special Edition: 1981 JICST Classification Table•Thesaurus : JICST Thesaurus on Science and Technology-Fundamental Revision Points-

Abstract

This paper describes how 1978 edition of JICST Thesaurus is revised and became 1981 edition of the Thesaurus by showing revision rules and the examples. The revision is mainly concerned with 1) revision of terms and 2) revision of relations among terms. As to terms deletion, addition, modification, relocation from descriptors to non-descriptors and the reversal and rearrangement of complex - words and similar words are carried out. Then the revision of relations among terms, that is, level, preference, related, is done. It mentions the counter measures againt Furigana of the same form as EBCDIC, which causes noise in retrieval. It explains the content of the revision itself as the whole, but does not mention the matters such as origin of revision criteria and their problems, evaluation of revision and so on.
