Present status of computer techniques for new materials design is reviewed. The utilization of computers to new materials design attracts much attention as alternative method for traditional trials-and-error methods. For that purpose, all computer techniques such as computer simulation, database and knowledge-base are fully utilized. Computer-aided materials design has possibility to develop completely new materials which can not be found by traditional methods as well as to shorten the period to develop new materials.
