Abstract: Coacervates are ionic complexes that provide lubrication during hair washing. In this study, hair shampoo models containing amino acid-based surfactants, including sodium lauroyl methylaminopropionate (LMA), were prepared to compare their composition ratios and rheological properties. Mixtures of coacervates and premicellar aggregates precipitated from diluted LMA solutions exhibited viscous behavior. Furthermore, the premicellar aggregates enhanced the shear and strain resistance of the coacervates by forming crosslinks with surfactants and polymers. The use of coacervates and premicellar aggregates represents a new strategy for enhancing product value by providing superior lubrication during hair washing.
