Abstract
A study was made of sterol composition of the seeds of Panicum miliaceum (Gramineae). A sterol fraction obtained from the seeds was converted to a trimethylsilyl derivative and analyzed by GC-MS. Five sterols, cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol and isofucosterol, were confirmed to be present and cholesterol and isofucosterol were shown to account for ca. 316% and ca. 512% of the total sterols, respectively.
