The purpose of this study is to examine the actual conditions and user evaluation in a small-sized free address office to examine the usage and evaluation of its environment. On-site observations and the questionnaire were conducted, and the main findings are as follows: 1) Five elements such as the location of the area, layout and the furniture are main viewpoint to evaluate the office environment. The workers also have some conflicting needs for the office space, such as the calm atmosphere to concentrate their work, and also the accessibility to other workers to communicate with. 2) The seats planned for the private usage works well for the personal works, meanwhile the seats planned for the group meetings not always works successfully depends on the shape of the furniture and the location in the office. 3) Several findings are considered to be the character of the small-sized office, such as the usage of the meeting space for individual works, and the awareness of the coworker’s whereabouts in free-address area.
